Hello TCYC Members.
Well, summer will soon be upon us and the weather for Sailpast will no doubt be flawless!. As you all know Saturday May 12 is our Sailpast, our first in honour of new Commodore Jo-Ann Heinz.
Member attendance is mandatory for the Sailpast portion of the day's events. This doesn't mean that if you have a family emergency you cant let us know and attend to things but this is a requirement of membership and is the only mandatory event of the year. Besides its regal and traditional and fun.
The Sailpast will commence at 11am sharp. Please be in the area of the Commodore's boat on time. It can take a while to get to Tiddly Cove from False Creek especially in a westerly and/or a flood tide. Tiddly Cove is located near Sandy Cove Park (approx.. N49 20.397 W123 13.740) on the West Vancouver shoreline.
Sailpast Race: This year's race should be interesting as we continue with a longer course and other changes designed to make the race more competitive. I do want to remind everyone that if you plan on racing you may need to take your own elapsed time so please ensure you have a timer capable of that on board.
Most important thing, have fun!
We have some changes to the venue at the Burrard Civic Marina for the Commodore's reception following sail past. The room and yard we were going to use is not available But... here is the good news we have permission of full use of "H" dock - over 300ft of dock space and adjacent slips with a big OK to stay over night if need be enough room that all can dock up and our party is now a dock party. Boats from other Marinas may come in and dock up to enjoy the festivity's and BBQ with the freedom of having a drink or two and then stay over night if need be. This is great news. Come dock up and enjoy the party after the sail past at the Burrard Civic Marina "H" dock Bring your own beverages we will supply the food.
Enter east of the Burrard gas dock underneath the bridge to access H dock.
See you there!
