Sailing Adventures in the South Pacific with Alan Boreham
Alan Boreham is a sailor and world traveler. In 1982 Alan left Vancouver to sail to Hawaii on an offshore training course and continued on, working his way across the South Pacific aboard sailing yachts. Alan returned to Vancouver in 1983 to resume his career in fisheries and the environment, ranging from building salmon hatcheries and managing programs for Aboriginal fishers, to participating as Canada’s national correspondent for the Canada-U.S.A. Pacific Salmon Treaty.
During his career he also worked for ten years as a sailing instructor and later as director of sailing school operations for Cooper Boating in Vancouver, and volunteered with the Canadian Yachting Association to train sailing instructors.
Retired in 2010, Alan lives in North Vancouver where he does some consulting, and keeps busy as a writer and travel columnist
